Can wine be part of an investment portfolio?
Adding fine wines to your investment portfolio can be highly profitable. The normal
ROI (Return on Investment) on fine wine investment can vary, but premium wine regions around the world continue to perform on the futures market.
Average Returns: Fine wine investments have typically yielded annual returns of
around 8% to 12% over the long term. Some exceptional wines, particularly from
prestigious regions like Bordeaux and Burgundy, may achieve even higher returns.
Market Performance: We base a lot of our analysis on the Liv-ex Fine Wine 100
index, which tracks the price movement of the most sought-after fine wines, has
shown positive growth over the years. For instance, it has reported annualized
returns in the double digits during strong market periods.
Short-term vs. Long-term: Short-term returns can be more volatile and may not
always reflect the overall potential of fine wine investments. Long-term holding (5-10
years or more) tends to smooth out market fluctuations and can lead to more
substantial returns.
Rarity and Quality: The ROI is often higher for wines from top producers and rare
vintages. Wines that are limited in production and have strong provenance tend to
appreciate more rapidly. Burgundy is a perfect example of a fine wine region worth
investing in because of its small production a high quality wines.
Market Trends: The demand for fine wine, economic conditions, and global trends
can significantly impact ROI. For example, growing interest from emerging markets
can create upward pressure on prices.

Why should I invest in Burgundy wines?
The ROI (Return on Investment) on Burgundy wines can vary widely based on
several factors, including the specific wines you choose, the vintage quality, market
demand, and the time frame of your investment.
Historical Returns: Over the past decade, some Burgundy wines have seen significant appreciation, with certain top producers and vintages yielding returns of 10-15% annually. Exceptional vintages, such as those from renowned producers like Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, can see even higher returns.
Market Trends: Burgundy has gained popularity among collectors and investors, leading to increased demand and prices. This trend can enhance potential ROI, especially for limited-production wines.
Quality and Rarity: The ROI is often higher for wines from prestigious vineyards and
renowned producers. The scarcity of high-quality Burgundy wines means that those with strong provenance and ratings can appreciate more rapidly.
Investment Horizon: The time frame you hold your investment can also affect ROI.
Longer holding periods may allow for greater appreciation, particularly in a growing
market.
Economic Factors: Market fluctuations, economic conditions, and changes in
consumer preferences can impact ROI. The wine market can be volatile, so it’s important to stay informed about market trends.
Diversification: Investing in a range of Burgundy wines can help mitigate risks and enhance overall returns.

How does the tarifs in the USA affect the wine order (US clients only)?
On July 27 th , an agreement was signed between Donald Trump (USA) and Ursula
Van Leden (EU) which puts the tariffs of European goods exported to the USA at
15%. This will be charged in the USA.
Remember, when you buy wines in France, you don’t pay the VAT (TVA in French)
which is at 20%. The new tariff tax will not be included in the amount you pay in
France for your wines, which also includes the shipping. It will be charged separately
in the USA.
Can I find the same wines that I'm purchasing in Burgundy in the USA or elsewhere?
You have to remember that Burgundy in particular, has small wineries with a limited
amount of wines produced – approximately 2500 – 3000 cases for an average
family-run winery. If they say they are exported to 15 or 20 different countries,
including the USA, just think how much of their production actually makes it to the
USA. Maybe 200 to 300 cases? What’s the chance that you can actually get some in
your country?
